HTDK and Fotona Outline China Commercialization Priorities at CDS 2026

14 Oct 2026

SHANGHAI, China, October 14, 2026 — HTDK and Fotona presented their commercialization priorities for China’s dental laser market at the 2026 China Dental Show (CDS 2026), held October 13–16 in Shanghai. Building on their strategic partnership for dental laser equipment in mainland China, the companies are focusing on expanding distribution coverage, strengthening clinical education and identifying products suited to local market needs.

The collaboration combines Fotona’s laser technology, clinical expertise and global training resources with HTDK’s capabilities in regulatory affairs, supply chain operations and commercial distribution in China.

Commercialization Priorities for China

During a leadership roundtable on October 14, executives from Fotona and HTDK joined a regional distribution partner to discuss China’s dental laser market, including the operational and clinical support needed to expand adoption.

Jeff Duchemin, Global CEO of Fotona, identified China as an important growth market. He emphasized that HTDK’s commercial network, combined with Fotona’s technology, clinical expertise and training capabilities, would support broader market coverage and clearer accountability for commercial execution.

Leonard Tam, General Manager of Fotona China, outlined three priorities: evaluating additional products for the Chinese market, developing structured training programs with local clinical experts and strengthening distribution partnerships.

As dental practices increasingly compete on patient experience and differentiated services, Tam noted that effective clinical education is essential to helping practitioners integrate laser technology into routine care.

Teresa Chen, CEO of HTDK, highlighted the role of an integrated commercialization partner in navigating China’s complex operating and distribution environment. HTDK will support Fotona through its regulatory, supply chain and channel management capabilities while working with distribution partners to develop additional clinical support and customer services.

Faison Zhang, General Manager of 上海贝事特医疗器械有限公司 shared insights from more than seven years of experience working with Fotona. He highlighted the role of clinical education in supporting product adoption, describing how his team combines classroom training, hands-on workshops and post-installation clinical coaching to help dentists integrate laser technology into routine practice.

Zhang also emphasized the importance of ongoing clinical support in helping dental practices develop differentiated services. He welcomed the opportunity to bring more of Fotona’s international training resources to China.

The roundtable highlighted the importance of combining technology, commercial execution and clinical education to support the adoption of dental laser solutions in China.

Advancing Commercialization Through Distribution, Portfolio Development and Clinical Education

Building on their strategic partnership, HTDK and Fotona are focusing on three areas to support the continued development of China’s dental laser market.

  • Distribution development. The companies are working to strengthen regional distribution coverage, improve channel management and coordinate supply chain operations and commercial support. HTDK’s established local infrastructure and distribution capabilities will support Fotona’s efforts to serve dental practices across different regions and market segments.
  • Product portfolio development. Fotona is evaluating additional dental laser products suited to the needs of different regions and dental practices in China. HTDK will support future product introductions through regulatory coordination, supply chain operations and channel management, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Clinical education. The companies are exploring opportunities to introduce Fotona’s LA&HA Academy training programs in China, combining international educational resources with local clinical expertise and hands-on instruction. Potential collaborations with Chinese dental schools and clinical experts are also under consideration.

During CDS 2026, Fotona hosted educational sessions on laser applications in general dentistry and endodontics, providing a forum for clinicians to share practical experience and insights.

HTDK and Fotona will continue to develop their distribution network, product portfolio and clinical education initiatives to support the broader adoption and effective clinical use of dental laser technology in China.
