Sofwave™
Sofwave system

Shanghai, November 1, 2026 — HTDK and Sofwave Medical Ltd. have jointly confirmed the appointment of Peter Lyu as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HTDK Medical Devices (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., where he will lead the commercialization of Sofwave™ in China.
The establishment of the new company and Lyu’s appointment mark a significant step in putting Sofwave™’s China commercialization strategy into action. The development builds on a partnership that began in 2022 and reached a key regulatory milestone in September 2026, when the Sofwave™ system received Class III medical device registration approval from China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). With the new company and its leadership in place, the focus now shifts to building commercial capabilities, establishing operations, and expanding market reach.
Lyu brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and medical aesthetics, with a strong track record in the energy-based aesthetic device sector, including imported radiofrequency, laser, and focused ultrasound products. His experience spans China market operations for multinational companies, professional channel development, physician education, and regulatory compliance.
Throughout his career, Lyu has worked across three major energy-based aesthetic technology categories: radiofrequency, laser, and ultrasound. Each offers a distinct mechanism of action and serves different clinical needs. Sofwave™ introduces a different approach to ultrasound-based treatments through its non-focused synchronous parallel ultrasound beam technology.
Lyu’s appointment brings this technology into his broader portfolio of industry experience, providing a foundation for channel development, physician education, and market expansion.
Commenting on the company’s commercial direction, Peter Lyu highlighted the potential of Sofwave™ technology to support a longer-term approach to skin rejuvenation and skin health management. He noted that China’s medical aesthetics market is evolving, with consumers increasingly looking beyond immediate, visible changes to focus on skin quality, firmness, and long-term skin condition. Against this backdrop, he emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance, physician education, and realistic patient expectations. Sofwave™ aims to support a structured, long-term approach to skin health management, grounded in clinical practice rather than short-term market trends.
According to publicly available registration information, Sofwave™ is the first imported ultrasound skin treatment device to receive regulatory approval in China, introducing a new technology option to the market. With Lyu at the helm and the commercialization team taking shape, the company will focus on supporting the responsible adoption of dermal ultrasound technology through regulatory compliance, professional education, and standardized clinical practices. These efforts are expected to create new opportunities for healthcare providers while supporting a longer-term approach to skin treatment and management.
